If you couldn't tell from the cover, this chapter's going to be a little weird. That'll start right from the first page of it, so just a heads-up, we're getting strange and it's not really like any of the Blues chapters so far.
Still, with that in mind, we definitely hope you enjoy it! I'm in a little bit of a rush and I don't have a lot to say on this cover off the top of my head, but we hope you like this and the story moving forward.
Adam's Comments:
Yeahhhh, this chapter's gonna be pretty different. After the Spencer chapter turned out way too long and since the chapter following this is going to have high stakes, tried a few different ideas here. To be specific, this is what Tropes would call a Breather Episode, sandwiched between two major threats (Spencer and the next, upcoming villain).
First of all, the chapter has a much bigger emphasis on humor which... I'm gonna say, is a risky move. I never found my own writing all THAT funny, at least not enough to be a major focus of the comic. Amusing at best. That said, I did try hard to put some decent jokes into this chapter and hope they get at least a couple of chuckles. Surprised at how funny I think it turned out, but humor's so subject I've got no clue what anybody else'll think about it.
Secondly, I took efforts to make this chapter shorter. Pretty much directly because of the Spencer chapter, I want this one to move a lot quicker so I kept it as trim as I could. Still not as short as I would've liked (scripts have all been finished and half the pages are drawn by this point) but getting better at compressing my stories, which is a good sign.
Thirdly.... Eheh... Hate to say this, but you might need to have a cursory knowledge on comic book trends to understand this one. Think it might work without it, but sorta add an extra wrinkle if you know a bit of history. Anybody watch Linkara? That should be plenty.
But yeah, cover... I think Martin had the idea for one of this new bloke, whose name we'll be learning in the comic proper, just marching straight toward the reader. Then I got the idea of him just marching toward the reader... but it being zoomed out so we can see everything going on around him. I think it was Martin who added the extra idea of him interrupting the original cover of the page, but whoever it was, think it came out nice. ^^
