Ughhhh. Yeah, this is the page that we accidentally posted too early last week. Don't believe us? The comments are still there beneath this message. Imagine it was weird looking at this and wondering why Jake was just suddenly there in the shot.
It's funny, because my main thought in posting this page is "Is this even a shock to anyone?" This erm... "twist" was pretty heavily foreshadowed and outright guessed by a number of readers. And why the Val/Heather thing told me is that apparently for everyone one reader who mentions it there's a ton who don't. Heck, one reader even pointed out to me Marvelous Man has these five specific POWERS. Jake's "Do I need to spell it out more" was my way of lampshading how obvious it had gotten.
Yeah, I said five. Nicky's the only kid who didn't get his powers used as a sample. Look at his face, you can tell he's only now realizing it.
Honestly one problem I sorta have with the Blues kids is how "stock" their super-powers are and wish I'd gone a bit out-there. One reason I wanna have them explore their powers and find more applicability is to sort of get out of the box. But it kinda-sorta worked for this as Marvelous Man was designed to be a very generic superhero in a meta-sense.
Actually... Wait, now that I think about it, I wanna say the idea of Marvelous man's powers coming SPECIFICALLY from the kids was Martin's idea when he noticed the similarities. Maybe? It was a long time ago. Just don't think that was an idea going in.
I feel weird how these last few pages, all the discussion seems to come from the final panel, almost like everything else in the page is filler. I do like a lot of what's going on here before the revelation, especially Andy's "Whiplash" line.

Yeah, last week had me having to kind of scramble to come up with a fix when this page went up early. If it were just one page ahead I'd have probably just combined them but two ahead... Yeah, just had to hide it like nothing happened, sorry.
I don't really know how much I can really say about the power subject given something that's been discussed on that that I'm not really sure as to how it falls in with current plans but either way, yeah, idea Marvelous Man's powers came from the samples taken at the school has been something in mind for a loooong time. As you'd probably figure given even as early as his debut chapter pretty much made that clear.
Do hope everyone enjoys this one, yeah. Not sure what else I've got on it but I am happy with how it came out.
